Becoming an eLogbook Provider

Catch reporting became completely electronic in 2019. All fishers in New Zealand must now report their catch data through an elogbook that meets the specifications set out in the Fisheries (Reporting) Regulations 2017.

All elogbook providers must connect their systems to the Fishserve Fisheries Management System so that the catch data reports can go through a validation process and be sent on to Fisheries New Zealand.

There are four specific APIs that support elogbooks:

  • Authentication: Used for Fishserve APIs and registering logbooks

  • Logbook Registration: Used for registering the public key for the logbook to submit event report data

  • Event APIs: Submit, retrieve or amend Fishing and Non-Fishing Events that occur on trips. Such as a Trawl Event or a Processing Event

  • Master Data APIs: Retrieve relevant data to be used when creating Fishing and Non-Fishing Events. Such as stock code lists or fishing methods

Please contact us via email on registry@fishserve.co.nz or phone on (04) 460 9555 if you would like to connect to our ERS APIs.
